Right now
Not amateur radio as such: 1090 MHz belongs to aviation, not to the amateur bands. I run this receiver because I am very interested in radio propagation from aircraft – how far their signals reach, from what height, and how the range changes with the weather.
Radar view
North up, the station in the centre; country borders solid, states dotted; cities over 50 000 inhabitants grey, airports with scheduled flights blue (ICAO code); military aircraft in a khaki frame. Dashed trails: positions by multilateration (MLAT, computed by ADS-B Exchange from several receivers) for aircraft that do not send their own. 3D: the aircraft at their altitude (heights exaggerated six times), with a line down to their ground position.
